A Message From Jenny

Yoga in the mouth

Can you imagine having the same levels of energy at the beginning and end of your day? That's what I've been experiencing since starting our New Inner Radiance Cleanse.

Right about now our courageous participants are riding the wave into their third week of consuming nothing but clean, fresh foods and purified water. I designed this new four week program to clean out our physical, mental and emotional systems, and to be honest, it's been agonizingly rewarding for most of us. People were asked to remove unhealthy substances and foods that tax our systems, such as meat, sweets and processed foods. The vice I chose to remove was sugar…what would be yours?

I will admit that in my first week of eliminating sugar, I went temporarily insane. One day, I was so desperate for that sweet comfort that I snuck into my children's chewable Vitamin C bottle!

Outside of the occasional weak moment, I've remained steadfastly dedicated, and my body has settled into new balance. For example, upon waking on day seven, I had a hankering for salad greens and pine nuts. This craving reminded me that our bodies are highly intelligent and will always move toward health when guided in the right direction. All we need to do is flush toxic residue from the drain pipes and provide the body with high octane macro and micro nutrients. Like magic, it will glow radiantly and function magnificently.

We are all familiar with doing yoga on our mats, but what if we visualized our tongue as our second mat. Since the tongue is the driving force behind many of our food choices, we can greatly influence our consumption by practicing yoga in our mouths.

We can do this by devoting time for the act of eating and learning to savor our food. This means we sit down, minimize discussion, pull over into a parking lot, or sit away from the computer to take time solely for eating mindfully. When we approach food as a sacred ritual, we become more sensitive to the quality and quantity of our meals, as well as the way in which we consume them. When I had a smidgen of organic chocolate on Halloween, my tongue soaked it up with delight…and that was enough because my taste buds have become more sensitive (which is another word for yoga!).

With stress related illnesses, cardiovascular disease and obesity at an all time high, can we really afford to say that we don't have time to pay attention to how and what we're feeding our bodies? We actually have an opportunity to do yoga three times a day, in the mouth. Through this simple practice, your Inner Radiance will start to shine out from the core of your being.

If you missed the opportunity to join us this fall, we will be offering the cleanse again in the new year.

Jenny
